The Art of AJB

Ever since I saw my first cover of the old D&DExpert and Basic Sets, and then the first time I saw a painting by Larry Elmore, I wanted to be a fantasy artist. Making the images of an impossible world is something I enjoy, creating a world that I and others can then look into - a window to another universe. I hope to one day do art for fantsy novels or for RPG companies. Right now I do not have a job in my field, but I do work on commission, mostly character portraits and sketches for people who do role-playing games.

I have completed a BFA Degree in Painting, though my preferred medium is pencil sketches, later re-inked to bring out the blacks and increase the contrasts between line and paper. I have recently scanned in the vast majority of my smaller drawings, paintings and sketches. I have uploaded a select few and you are free to look, and even use them, so long as they remain unaltered and my signature is not removed from the image. If you would be interested in commissioning a character sketch, portrait or other piece of fantasy or sci-fi art, or just want to comment on what you see, feel free to e-mail me at TheWarlock@Mediaone.net. Now, prepare to step into other worlds where you will see...

A battle of combat mechs in a ruined city...             An enormous stone elemental...

A concept drawing for a Dragon Magazine article of mine - a magically imbued Troll...

An inhuman yet honorable warrior-mage...              A company of experienced adventurers...

The phases of a skilled warrior's leap...             A gravity defying mountain citadel...

A spacecraft touching down amid thruster fire...      The ancient throne of a reptile-man archmage mummy, preserved for eons...

A combat armored interstellar mercenary...               Nobody kicks ass like Uyag the half-giant kicks ass...

A weird, yet fantastic ship crewed by goblins in fantasy space...

I hope you've enjoyed this small selection of my work, and I hope to find the time in the near future to devote to my drawing pursuits once more.
